Sur la Route des Citadelles

The Meuse by bike, the first long-distance cycling route fully signposted and waymarked in Wallonia, enables you to cover 147 km following one of Europe's most beautiful river valleys. Whether you leave from the French border near Givet or the Dutch border near Maastricht, the rural landscapes you will encounter, created by this majestic river, will take you to explore the magnificent natural and industrial heritage of Wallonia.

Along this Citadels route, mainly on the path of the Meuse RAVeL away from motor traffic, you will have the opportunity to visit the four strongholds of Wallonia, Dinant, Namur, Huy and Liège.

The Meuse by bike in Wallonia is part of an international route stretching around 1,000 kilometres that follows the banks of the Meuse from its source in the Vosges massif in France to its estuary near Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
